Eligibility
- The University of Sheffield invites applications for the PhD Research Project: Deciphering Proton Shuttling on the Surface of Biological Membranes as part of the Yorkshire Bioscience Doctoral Training Partnership (YBDTP).
- This opportunity is open to both UK and international students, including those from the EU.
- To be eligible, applicants must have, or be expected to gain, at least an upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in biological, chemical, physical sciences, or mathematics.
- The interdisciplinary nature of the project encourages individuals from diverse academic backgrounds who are interested in using their skills to solve biological questions.
Application Process
- To apply for the studentship at the University of Sheffield, applicants must complete the Expression of Interest form by 5pm, Friday 14th March 2025.
- Candidates can apply for up to three YBDTP projects across different universities.

- This fully-funded studentship is available for four years, with a tax-free annual stipend of £19,237 (for the 2024/25 academic year) as per the UKRI rate.
- The funding covers research costs and tuition fees for UK students.
- International students will receive a stipend for living costs but are responsible for additional expenses such as visa fees, NHS surcharge, and travel costs.
