PhD scholarship in biotransformation mechanisms of uranium species and stability in mining site environment at RMIT University 2024/25

Eligibility criteria:

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Have a first-class Honours or H1 or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline of engineering/science
• Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand Citizen or an Australian permanent resident or an international student meeting the minimum English language requirements
• Provide evidence of adequate oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team
• Meet RMIT’s entry requirements for the PhD by research degree.

• Exposing the processes that convert and immobilize uranium species in the environment of mining sites.
• Creation of novel techniques and procedures for uranium (bio)remediation in order to stabilize immobilized uranium over the long run.
• Advanced methods for chemical investigation and characterization, including synchrotron technology, mineralogy interpretation, electrochemical research, and surface and spectroscopic examination. 

Value:

Successful applicants will get a stipend of $32,841 per annum pro rata (full-time) for three year.
