EngD in Fundamental Understanding of Tool Coatings and Lubricants for SCCO2 Assisted Machining
- The EngD in Fundamental Understanding of Tool Coatings and Lubricants for SCCO2 Assisted Machining offers an exciting opportunity to explore the performance of tool coatings and lubricants in the novel supercritical CO₂ (scCO₂) machining process.
- This research, in collaboration with Seco Tools and Hangsterfer’s Laboratories, aims to improve tool life, reduce friction, and enhance machining efficiency.
Eligibility
- This directly funded EngD/PhD opportunity is open to students worldwide with a first-class or strong 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields.
- Candidates must also have a strong interest in cutting-edge manufacturing technology and be comfortable working with AI-driven process optimization and cryogenic machining.
