Eligibility
To be eligible for the Siddall Sheffield Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a US citizen who has studied in the US, and not currently a resident in the UK.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field before departure to the UK.
- Have a preferred GPA of 3.7 or higher.
- Be accepted to study a one-year full-time Master's programme in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield.
- Be able to demonstrate academic excellence, technical innovation, and a commitment to the community.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:
- Academic Merit (50%): A strong academic record, particularly with a commitment to technical innovation.
- Contribution to Research in Engineering (25%): A 500-word research proposal demonstrating potential for contributing to research within a specific area of Engineering.
- Civic Engagement (25%): A 500-word essay outlining how the applicant has contributed to their home community and how they will contribute to the development of the Sheffield community.
- This could be evidenced through volunteering, extra-curricular activities, or community service.
How to Apply
- Applications for the 2026 award will open in March 2025. To apply, follow these steps:

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship is only available for one-year Master's programmes in the Faculty of Engineering.

- The scholarship cannot be combined with other University of Sheffield scholarships or external funding (excluding repayable loans).
- The scholarship cannot be deferred and must be used for the specific academic year in which it is awarded.

- The scholarship funds will be paid in four equal instalments.
