Antarctic Research Centre 50th Anniversary Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington 2023

History and purpose:

This scholarship is funded by the Antarctic Research Centre to commemorate the Centre’s 50th Anniversary. The scholarship has been established to fund a Masters student to research a topic in the history of the Antarctic Research Centre, and is expected to generate oral history recordings for use in the thesis and for subsequent deposit in an archive. While the student will be expected to work within the broad topic of the 50 year history of the Antarctic Research Centre, there is scope to focus on specific aspects of this history according to the student’s interest. This scholarship is for a student enrolling in a Masters by thesis degree under the supervision of Rebecca Priestley, from the Centre for Science in Society.

Eligibility fot the scholarship:

• Applicant must be in the year of tenure will be enrolled as a Master's student on a research topic on the history of the Antarctic Research Centre.
• Student should be science literate and will have studied history at tertiary level but this is an interdisciplinary project and we welcome students from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds.

Selection Criteria:

• Applicants must be intending to enrol in a Master’s by thesis.
• Applicants must be intending to research a topic on the history of the Antarctic Research Centre.
