Dr. Gordon H. Carruthers OBE 1945 (1993 Honorary LLD) made a substantial grant that allowed the Dr. Gordon H. Carruthers Wardlaw Scholarship to be founded. This scholarship is a part of the Wardlaw Scholarship program, which was started in 2004 to help academically talented students who might otherwise find it difficult to afford to attend the University of St Andrews.
