The 2024 Choral Scholarship at Northumbria University offers a £700 cash reward, providing the opportunity to work with professional musicians at St Nicholas Cathedral and perform in the new Newcastle Cathedral Consort.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a UK/Home student.
- Applicant must choose Northumbria as their firm choice by 06 June 2024.
- Applicants must register with the relevant Student Finance service (SFE, SFW, SFNI) for scholarship payment. Scottish students must apply to SAAS for maintenance funding, allowing them to manage the scholarship payment.
- A Scottish student not applying for SAAS maintenance funding must provide bank details to receive an individual academic scholarship payment.
- Scottish students not applying for SAAS maintenance funding but eligible for a scholarship will be contacted by the University in the first semester for payment, which will be made directly to their bank account.
Application Process:
- Applicants must apply online, and shortlisted candidates will attend a singing audition at Northumbria University, performing a 4-8 minute piece, along with sight-reading and a voice test.
- Applicants must describe their singing experience and how they would contribute to vocal and choral music at Northumbria University and St Nicholas Cathedral in no more than 1500 characters.
- Successful applicants will be informed following enrolment in October 2024
Value:
- Choral Scholarship recipients will receive a £700 cash payment.
- All eligible Full-Time self-funded students will be considered.
- This scholarship provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with professional musicians at St Nicholas Cathedral and perform in the newly formed Newcastle Cathedral Consort, a partnership between the Cathedral and Northumbria University, as well as participate in other services.
