Cowrie Scholarship Foundation Overview

• The Cowrie Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to Black African and Caribbean heritage students from socio-economically under-represented backgrounds.
• This scholarship is available to UK/Home students who will begin their undergraduate studies in the 2025/2026 academic year.
• It covers tuition fees and provides an £8,000 maintenance stipend annually for up to three years, depending on satisfactory progression.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

• Identify as Black or Black British (Caribbean, African), Mixed (White and Black Caribbean, White and Black African), or another Black background.
• Have a household income of £25,000 or less per year.
• Apply for tuition fee support and maintenance loan from Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).
• Receive confirmation that you'll be in receipt of full financial support for the 2025/2026 academic year.
• Consent must be given to share this information with the University to confirm eligibility.
