Tuition Exchange (TE) Award
- The Tuition Exchange program is a reciprocal scholarship available to eligible dependents of faculty and staff employed at participating institutions.
- Seattle University is one of over 700 member schools in the Tuition Exchange Network.
How to Apply:
- Eligible dependents must work with the Human Resources Department at the school where their guardian is employed to begin the application process.
- The guardian must submit the Tuition Exchange application by January 31 of the year the student plans to attend Seattle University.
Application Timeline:
- Submit the Seattle University admissions application (Common Application for first-year students and the Transfer Application for transfer students) by the corresponding deadlines.
- First-year applicants must apply by January 15, while transfer applicants must apply by February 1.
Award Amount:
- The Tuition Exchange covers the full cost of tuition.
- However, Seattle University’s merit scholarships and other aid cannot be combined to exceed the full cost of tuition.
- Award Duration: This is a four-year scholarship for first-year students, provided their guardian maintains eligibility.
- Faculty & Staff Children Exchange (FACHEX) Award
The FACHEX program is similar to Tuition Exchange, but is specifically for dependents of faculty and staff employed at Jesuit colleges and universities across the United States.
How to Apply:
- The process is identical to the Tuition Exchange application process.
- Guardians must contact their institution’s HR department to submit an application by January 31 of the year the student intends to enroll at Seattle University.
Award Amount:
- The FACHEX award also covers the full cost of tuition.
- Similar to TE, other Seattle University aid cannot exceed the cost of tuition, but external scholarships can stack up to the full cost of attendance.
Eligibility:

Award Duration:
- First-year students are eligible for four years of funding, as long as their guardian remains eligible.

Important Considerations
- Merit Aid & Other Scholarships: Any additional merit scholarships or institutional aid from Seattle University cannot be combined with the Tuition Exchange or FACHEX awards beyond the full cost of tuition. However, outside scholarships may be added on top of these awards to cover additional expenses.
