Merit scholarships for International students enrolled at Universität Hamburg 2024

Universität Hamburg offers merit scholarships to exceptional international students and doctoral researchers in any field and at any degree level who have demonstrated a strong social conscience and active participation in international affairs. When a merit scholarship is awarded, the winner can focus exclusively on their studies and can further their education and skill development.

Eligibility for Merit scholarships for International students enrolled at Universität Hamburg:

• The candidate must be enrolled in your course at Universität Hamburg for a minimum of two semesters to be considered for admission (doctoral researchers and students in two-year master's programs may apply after just one semester);
• The applicants are not nationals of Germany;
• The candidate will not qualify for the federal student loan program.

Value:

€930 is the maximum monthly financing amount. Individual doctorate researchers may receive a merit scholarship worth €1,200 per month, contingent on funding availability (about 2-3 merit scholarships are awarded per round). Merit scholarships are given out for a total of 12 months, or two semesters. Students can reapply for financial aid. The maximum funding length for well-founded extraordinary instances is three years.
