Financial assistance is offered to students at ABET-accredited colleges and universities who are pursuing engineering degrees through the Donald and Barbara Mozley Scholarship. Renowned radio journalist Don Mozley worked for CBS Radio and KCBS/74 in San Francisco for sixty-two years. Employed by CBS in 1942, Don covered major historical events such as the Second World War, the testing of atomic bombs at Bikini, the campaigns for president by Nixon and Eisenhower, and Robert Taft's Senate candidacy. In honour of his outstanding broadcasting career, the Society of Professional Journalists Northern California Chapter presented him with the Excellence in Journalism Award. Apart from his journalism, Don's primary interest was in vehicles. He devoted a significant portion of his career to writing about automotive history for his articles "California Driver" and "Don Mozley's Auto Test."
Eligibility for Donald and Barbara Mozley Scholarship:
- The candidate must be a resident of the United States. Accepting applications from freshmen to seniors
- For incoming freshmen, the applicant must have a minimum unweighted 3.50 high school GPA; for upperclassmen, it must be a 3.0 cumulative college GPA.
- The candidate should enrol in an ABET-accredited school to pursue a degree in engineering or a related science.
- The applicant must include two (2) letters of recommendation: one (1) addressing academic performance and one (1) outlining extracurricular activity or employment.
- The applicant should be able to explain the current significance of their intended major in industry as well as the contributions they expect to make in the future.
- The applicant must describe their involvement in a STEM activity, either within or outside of school, OR their experience as a STEM mentor or volunteer, along with the lessons they learned.
