To support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and UK universities with funding from the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
Eligibility for Commonwealth Shared Scholarship at the University of Reading:
- The applicant must be a British Protected Person, a citizen of a Commonwealth nation, or have been awarded refugee status by one of those nations.
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of an eligible Commonwealth nation.
- When the UK academic year begins in September 2024, the applicant should be eligible to begin your studies there.
- The candidate shouldn't have worked or studied in a high-income nation for more than a year.
- The candidate must have a first degree with at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors standard by September 2024, or a lower second-class degree (2:2) plus a relevant postgraduate degree (often a master's degree).
- The applicant shouldn't be able to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.

Application Process:
The candidate must fill out an online application form at the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission website to apply for the scholarship. CSC is in charge of managing the application process; it receives and evaluates applications. Applications have to be submitted online using the CSC application system. Applicants must first apply to one of the nominating organizations; direct applications for these scholarships are not accepted by the CSC:
