The University of Kent, in partnership with the Article 26 Project can offer three Article 26 awards for undergraduate entry in 2024. These awards are aimed at helping those seeking asylum in the UK to progress to higher education.
Eligibility for the Article 26 Award:
- Applicant must have refugee status, be an asylum seeker or the partner/dependent of an asylum seeker; OR an asylum seeker/partner/dependent who has been granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) or some other form of temporary status.
- Candidate should have a conditional or unconditional offer of undergraduate study from the University of Kent, having applied through UCAS.
- Students should be currently attending a school, college, community, or voluntary group that can provide a reference in support of their application.
- Applicant should be unable to access mainstream funding, e.g. student finance or a local authority grant.
- Students should live within commuting distance of the University of Kent (i.e. within the county of Kent).
Application Process:
Students need to submit an application form to the university to be eligible for the scholarship.
Value of the scholarship:
- Each recipient’s tuition fees will be waived for the duration of their program of study at the University of Kent.
- The recipients will be eligible to receive financial support from the University of Kent to cover the cost of travel (to the University or for group support), books, equipment, etc. This is a bursary payment of GBP 2000 at the start of the academic year.
