Professor Malcolm DH Smith was a leading international figure in Asian legal studies and the Founding Director of the Asian Law Centre at the University of Melbourne. Established to remember Professor Smith and his exceptional contribution to Asian legal studies, this scholarship is open to commencing domestic and international students of the Melbourne JD, who have completed either an undergraduate degree majoring in Asian studies at a tertiary institution in Australia or Asia or an undergraduate law degree at a tertiary institution in Asia.
