The Judge Ralph J Perdriau Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Common Law is a prestigious stipend scholarship offered by the Sydney Law School to support research students conducting research in common law. The scholarship aims to attract top candidates with well-developed research projects to pursue their research degrees at the Sydney Law School.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission to study full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Laws (LLM) by Research within the Sydney Law School.
• Candidates must be willing to conduct research in common law.
• Applicants must hold at least one of the following degrees in Law:
  • Bachelor of Laws (Honours First Class) or equivalent
  • Master of Laws by Research
  • Master of Laws by Coursework, including a research component equivalent to 25% of one year’s full-time enrollment
  • Degree in Law together with research and/or professional experience deemed equivalent to first-class honors.

Value of the Scholarship:

• The scholarship provides a stipend allowance of up to AUD 50,000 per annum for a maximum duration of 3.5 years.
• The scholarship can be awarded as either a primary or supplementary scholarship.
