This Prize was established in 1983 in tribute to the work of Associate Professor Janetta Mary McStay, on her retirement from the staff of the School of Music of the University of Auckland.
Eligibility for Janetta McStay Prize for Pianists 2025:
- The Janetta McStay Prize for Pianists will be awarded each year by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Music to the most deserving Piano student who has completed at least one year of a Performance degree or diploma program of Music at the University of Auckland and is proceeding to further piano study in the School of Music or elsewhere.
Application Process:
Students do not need to apply for this scholarship, award, or prize or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.
Value of Janetta McStay Prize for Pianists 2025:
- The annual value of the Janetta McStay Prize for Pianists will be NZD 1,000.
The University of Auckland Council is not obliged to make an award if there are no candidates of sufficient merit in any year. An additional award may be made in a later year.
