Harold Cranefield Memorial Scholarship at University of Wisconsin 2024

The Harold Cranefield Memorial Scholarship was made possible by Eleanor G. Cranefield's generous donation in memory of her husband, Harold Cranefield. Born August 12, 1903, in Madison, Wisconsin, Harold Cranefield received his Ph.B. from the University of Wisconsin in 1926 and his law degree from the same institution in 1929. After graduating, he became the Assistant District Attorney of Racine, Wisconsin, and a year later he opened his legal practice in Racine. By 1935, nearly all of his practice was devoted to representing newly organized labour unions, and in Chicago, he was appointed Regional Attorney of the National Labor Relations Board in Chicago. In May 1937, he was transferred to the Detroit Regional Office in the same capacity.

Eligibility for Harold Cranefield Memorial Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin:

• The applicant must enrol in all six semesters full-time as a law student.
• The candidate must continue to make satisfactory progress (a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required).
• The applicant must continue to maintain a high standard of professionalism, which calls for moral behaviour in compliance with university and law school regulations.
• To avoid having their award reduced or eliminated, candidates should notify our office if they earn any assistantships or fellowships at the university or any other scholarships that are not managed by the law school.
