This donor-funded supplementation scholarship has been established and funded for the University of Newcastle students studying PhD (Mechanical Engineering) or PhD (Mechatronics) that are Australian Citizens or Australian Permanent Residents residing in Australia.
Eligibility for the Glenn and Ken Moss PhD Scholarships in Engineering Research:
- Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD (Mechanical Engineering) or PhD (Mechatronics).
- Candidates must be Australian Citizens or Australian Permanent Residents residing in Australia.
- Students must have completed the Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours) or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) with a grade of First Class Honours.
- Candidates must be enrolled full-time and on campus and maintain this enrolment for the duration of the PhD candidature.
- Students must currently be receiving a University of Newcastle stipend scholarship of either a Research Training Program (RTP), a University of Newcastle Research Scholarship Central (UNRSC), a University of Newcastle Research Scholarship External (UNRSE), or a Business & Industry Scholarship.
- Applicants should not be in receipt of a supplementation scholarship of above $15,640.50 as a candidate cannot receive benefits greater than 75% of the stipend.
- Candidates must submit an expression of interest and any required documentation no later than the application closing date.

- Details of the current PhD enrolment at the University of Newcastle including; start date, program, on/off campus, part-time/full-time enrolment, research topic, current supervisors
- An overview of the proposed research and the long-term benefits of your research work
- List of completed tertiary qualifications and copies of the tertiary transcripts if the qualifications are not from the University of Newcastle.

Benefits:
- A living allowance benefit of $6,000 per annum for up to a maximum of 3.5 years (full-time) for a PhD program.
- A once-off $4,000 for research expenses (e.g. computers, equipment, consumables, and thesis preparation) and travel to use during their candidature
- A once-off of $5,000 to attend and participate in an international conference during their candidature.
