    The purpose of the Peter Crossman Scholarship is to provide financial support to students from James Cook University who live at John Flynn College. The value of a single scholarship in 2025 is $9,240, or half the annual cost of a normal room in residential housing.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Students should be Australian or New Zealand citizens or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa.
    • Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 credit points per semester) at James Cook University in their first year of enrolment in an undergraduate bachelor or diploma course as at the census date for study periods 1 and 2.
    • Students should have not previously completed a bachelor's degree.
    • Students should demonstrate that my home is so far from James Cook University Townsville (Bebegu Yumba campus or City campus) that daily travel for full-time internal study is impracticable
    • Students should demonstrate academic excellence in their previous studies
    • Students should demonstrate educational, social, and financial disadvantage
    • Students should demonstrate contribution to the wider community, through activities such as community service and participation in academics, arts, music, culture, or sports.
    • Students should demonstrate my ability to uphold the values of the College.

    Application Process: 

    Students must submit an application form to the university to be eligible for the scholarship.

    Selection Criteria:

    • The applicant's academic merit.
    • The extent of the applicant's educational, social, and financial disadvantage.
    • Any other criteria that the Selection Committee deems appropriate.

    Value of the Scholarship:

    The successful applicant of this scholarship will receive up to $9,240.
