The objective of The Volkswagen Foundation: Freigeist Fellowships is to support and encourage students with excellent academic merit and who possess an outgoing personality, to enroll to study at University.
Eligibility for The Volkswagen Foundation: Freigeist Fellowships:
- The Volkswagen Foundation: Freigeist Fellowships is open to all nationalities.
- All the program-specific requirements must be met.
- The applicant must have obtained a doctorate not longer than four years but at least one year previously.
- Ensure that the Fellowship will be integrated within a university or an extra-mural research institution in Germany.
- The applicant must have completed a previous research sojourn abroad, at the latest integrated with the proposed research project.

Value of the Fellowship:
The successful applicants will receive an amount of up to AUD 3,500,000.
