Eligibility Criteria for DAAD Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees / Cotutelle 2025:

Have a Master’s degree or Diplom (or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree) before starting funding for the sandwich model.
Be admitted to a doctoral programme before starting funding for the Cotutelle model.
Submit a research project jointly supervised by the home university and a German university.
Plan and agree on a study schedule and time allocation between Germany and the home university.
Comply with DAAD rules regarding funding use, insurance, and additional allowances.

Value of the DAAD Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees / Cotutelle 2025:

Monthly stipend: €1,400 during stay in Germany.
Health, accident, and liability insurance coverage.
Travel allowances: up to three round trips for the candidate; one trip for supervising professors.
Research allowance: €460.
Additional benefits:
- Monthly rent subsidy for stays over 6 months in Germany
- Allowance for accompanying family members
- Subsidies for disabilities or chronic illnesses
