John Howard Scholars for Students at Samford University 2024

Samford University offers the John Howard Scholars Program to students who have enrolled in an undergraduate-level program at the University.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must have completed three semesters at Samford University in any of the bachelor's programs.
• Applicants can be both domestic and international students.
• Applicants are expected to maintain an average GPA of 3.75 to be eligible.

Application Process:

• A selected group of twenty students are invited to the John Howard Scholars Program.
• The invited students must submit the online application form along with the following documents:
  • Letter of motivation
  • Most recent CV
  • Essay about a book read by the applicant in recent years in 500 - 700 words.

Value of the Scholarship:

• All successful recipients of John Howard Scholars can avail of the following benefits:
  • The students will be recognized at an introductory dinner and on the Howard College website.
  • The students will meet with the Dean of the College to work toward accomplishing the stated goals. 
  • The students participating in group activities regularly will be named permanently as Howard Scholars and be given honor cords to wear at graduation.
