The Scottish Graduate School of Social Science (SGSSS) brings together the expertise of sixteen universities throughout Scotland (of which twelve are accredited to receive funding from the Economic and Social Research Council across 15 subject pathways) to enable top-notch PhD research. It is also the largest doctoral partnership in the UK, offering funding, training, and support for postgraduate research students in the social sciences. The University of Strathclyde is one example of this. The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) jointly support the USGS.
