In honor of the late Christine Robyn Roigard, an exceptional undergraduate who was in her last year of a German and Slavonic Studies BA degree when she passed away unexpectedly, the Prize was founded in 1971. The Diocesan School for Girls, friends, family, and the faculty and students of the erstwhile Department of German and Slavonic Studies all contributed.
Eligibility for Christine Roigard Memorial Prize:
- Each year, the examiners' choice of the student who has completed the finest work in German at Stage II will be presented with the Prize.
- The student should, at the very least, have a 7.00 GPA in every German subject.
- On the suggestion of the Deputy Head (Academic) of the School of Cultures, Languages and Linguistics (or nominee), in conjunction with the Major/Specialization Leader of German, the University of Auckland Council will award the Prize.
- If no candidate satisfies the requirements or has enough merit, the University of Auckland Council is not required to give an award. There could be no prize sharing.
- The University of Auckland Council may change or modify these rules as long as the Prize's primary objective is maintained.
Application Process:
Applicants are not required to fill out an online application or apply for this scholarship, award, or prize. It is given out based on the advice of the appropriate University of Auckland committee or faculty.
