Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in, have applied for, or will apply for full-time admission to an eligible graduate program (master’s or doctoral level).
  • Applicants must have completed one of the following:
    • 0-12 months of full-time study (or equivalent) in a master’s program, a direct-entry doctoral program (from a bachelor’s), a combined master’s-doctoral program, a fast-track master’s-to-doctoral program, or a master’s program transitioning to a doctoral program.
    • 4-12 months of study in an eligible master's program, with the award to be activated during the first 12 months of a subsequent doctoral program.

How to apply?

To apply to the CGS M program, you must complete and submit an application to up to three institutions using the Research Portal.

Value:

The successful applicants for the Canada Graduate Scholarship will receive a stipend of $27,000 for 12 months, and the scholarship is non-renewable.
