David Akers, a UQ alumnus with a love of history and travel, created the Akers Family History Travel Grant in 2022. From 1981 to 1984, David majored in history, English, and economics while pursuing a BA (Hons). His uncle, Clark Davis Irwin, who passed away during World War II, had a significant impact on the family and contributed to his passion for history.
Eligibility Criteria for the Akers Family History Travel Grant at the University of Queensland 2024:
- Applicants must be enrolled in an Approved Program in the Relevant Field
- Applicants should not hold any other travel grant or scholarship.
- Applicants must not have previously received this grant.
- Applicants must have identified a travel opportunity of at least four weeks, scheduled to begin within the next 12 months, that will enhance their studies in History.
Value of the scholarship:
A partial amount of AUD 1,500 will be given to the successful applicant.
Deadline:
Students must carefully review eligibility criteria before submitting their application by 30th August 2024.
