Eligibility Criteria of the Fellowship:
- Applicants must be permanent residents of Japan.
- Applicants must be Japanese physicians in the early stages of their careers.
- Applicants must have received their Japanese MD license no more than fifteen (15) years from the time of application.
The successful applicants must begin their fellowship in September of their award year and maintain residence in the United States during the period of their fellowship.
Application Process:
Interested candidates must apply online for the fellowship. The application should include the following components:
- Two letters of support:
- One from the applicant's supervisor or mentor in Japan,
- The other from an independent, qualified source from the applicant's US/Canadian institution.
- If the host institution in the United States or Canada has already been identified, one of the support letters should come from the host supervisor or mentor.
- Progress reports and a final report will be required of selected fellows before subsequent stipend payments are issued.
Value of the Scholarship:
The selected candidates are awarded USD 24,000 per year.
