Undergraduate Scholarship Program at NIH 2025

The National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program is open to students from disadvantaged backgrounds committed to careers in behavioral, biomedical, and social science health-related research.

Eligibility for National Institutes of Health's Undergraduate Scholarship :

• Applicants must either be citizens or permanent residents of the USA.
• Applicants must enroll in an accredited UG institution in the USA as a full-time student.
• Applicants must be from disadvantaged community (disabled, minor community etc.).
• Applicants must have a GPA of 3.3 or greater or rank within the top five percent of the class.
• Applicants must demonstrate genuine financial need certified by the undergraduate institution’s financial aid office.
• Scholarship recipients must fulfill the following commitments:
  • A 10 week full-time summer internship at the NIH immediately following the year of scholarship support
  • One year of full-time work at the NIH post-graduation; (this service obligation may be deferred until completion of an advanced degree program).

Application Process :

• All eligible candidates must first complete the NIH Application Center profile.
• They must then indicate the interest in UGS in the application.
• The candidates must clear the eligibility test and submit the following documents:
  • Coursework
  • CV/Resume
  • Personal Statement
  • EFN certification from Financial Aid Office
  • Three references

Value of the Scholarship :

• The successful candidates are awarded a scholarship of up to USD 20,000 per year.
