The Prize was established in 2024 and is funded by law firm Mayne Wetherell. The main purpose of the prize is to reward and recognize academic excellence in Part I of a Bachelor of Laws degree by Māori students and Pacific students.
Eligibility Criteria for Mayne Wetherell Tangata Whenua ā Moana Oceana Prize at University of Auckland 2025:
- The prize is available to Māori students or Pacific students.
- Students must be enrolled in an LLB or LLB conjoint degree.
- Students must have achieved the highest grade point average (GPA) across LAW 121G, LAW 131 and LAW 141.
- As a minimum standard, the student must have achieved a GPA of at least 7.00 (equivalent to an A- average) across the three courses.
Value of Mayne Wetherell Tangata Whenua ā Moana Oceana Prize at University of Auckland 2025:
Each year, one prize worth $1,500 will be given out.
Application Process:
