Dr. Calvin Ring provided funding for the establishment of the Calvin Ring Prize for Clinical Ophthalmology in 1996.
Eligibility for the Calvin Ring Prize for Clinical Ophthalmology:
- The prize will be awarded annually to the full-time student achieving the best performance in the Calvin Ring Prize competition. Up to twelve candidates each year will be offered the chance to participate in this competition.
- The candidates will be selected based on the results of the MBChB Part V OSCE Examination. Candidates will be tested on their examination skills and clinical ophthalmological expertise and may be required to examine patients and view clinical slide transparencies. The candidate with the highest score will be awarded the prize.
Application Process:
Students are not required to fill out an online application or apply for this scholarship, award, or prize. It is given out based on the advice of the appropriate University of Auckland committee or faculty.

The value of the Calvin Ring Prize for Clinical Ophthalmology will be NZD 1,000.
