Ash Music Scholarships at Imperial College London

Upon the retirement of Professor Sir Eric Ash FRS, Rector of Imperial College from 1986 to 1993, the Imperial College Trust renamed the scholarships as the Ash Music Scholarships to honor his deep interest in and support for music at the college. Each year, the top scholar also receives the Coldstream Guards' Scholarship, providing an additional GBP 100 per year along with the Ash award.

Eligibility Criteria of Ash Music Scholarships:

1. The applicant must provide evidence of an ABRSM Grade 8 distinction (or equivalent international qualification) along with a copy of the mark sheet, a reference from their instrumental or vocal teacher, and a letter detailing relevant musical experience.
2. In exceptional cases, a high merit may be accepted if supported by outstanding references.

Application Process: 

1. The applicant should submit a hard copy application (for one instrument only) to Oliver Gooch, Director of the Blyth Music and Arts Centre, Level 5 Sherfield Building, Imperial College, London SW7 2AZ, including their contact details (postal address, email, and phone number) and the department they are applying to.
2. References must be included along with the application.

Award: Free instrumental tuition at the Royal College of Music.
