Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship at The University of Western Australia 2024

Scholarships for sports are available from the University of Western Australia to deserving students who are players, coaches, and officials from across the world. High-achieving athletes, coaches, and officials from across the world who study with us will get this enormous scholarship.

Eligibility for Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship:

     General Eligibility:

• • An offer to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program at The University of Western Australia should have been sent to the applicant.
  • If not the applicant must have achieved an equivalent qualification according to the following standards:
    • required WAM of 65.00 or minimum ATAR of 85.00
    • Students who are enrolled in an authorized International Academic Pathway (Articulation Program) must have obtained a WAM equivalent score of greater than 75.00.

     Sports Eligibility:

• • To be eligible for the scholarship, athletes must sign up and participate in the UWA-affiliated athletic club in the sport of their choice, provided that UWA plays in the top domestic league.
  • Coaches must register with and work as coaches for the UWA-affiliated athletic club in the student's selected field of study where the scholarship was given.
  • Sports officials must register and serve in the WA State Sporting League related to the student's selected field.
  • Whenever possible, the candidates must be available to represent, coach, or officiate for the university at national and international competitions.

     Under-Graduate eligibility:

     An applicant must be applying for an Assured Pathway course or an approved undergraduate bachelor's degree to be eligible for the award. The following are excluded:

• • Assured Pathway to Medicine
  • Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine

     Post-Graduate Eligibility:

     A candidate must be applying for an approved postgraduate degree (by coursework or coursework and dissertation) to be eligible to be considered for the fellowship.  The following are excluded:

• • Juris Doctor 
  • Doctor of Medicine 
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine 
  • Doctor of Optometry 
  • UWA Micro-credentials

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must send their Sport CV, outlining their recent achievements in high-performance sports and referees from their previous coaches or state organizations, to info@sport.uwa.edu.au.

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful candidates are awarded the benefits based on the following quotas:

• Undergraduate Awards:
  • ATAR 98.00 - plus   - AUD 12,000 yearly 
  • ATAR 90.00 - 97.95 - AUD 10,000 yearly
  • ATAR 85.00 - 89.95 - AUD 6,000 yearly
• Postgraduate Awards:
  • WAM 98.00 - plus   - AUD 12,000 yearly
  • WAM 75.00 - 84.99 - AUD 10,000 yearly
  • WAM 65.00 - 74.99 - AUD 6,000 yearly
