David Goldstein Memorial Scholarship in Paralegal Studies aims to grant scholarships to international students who have experience practicing criminal law in their home countries and to paralegal students who have demonstrated a strong interest in criminal justice and intend to pursue a career in this field.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates who have been admitted as certificate students and are now enrolled in the Paralegal Studies program.
- Candidates must possess a GPA of 3.5 or above in their paralegal studies courses and have completed at least one full semester.
- Candidates must have completed an internship or volunteer work in criminal justice, as well as the Paralegal Studies Criminal Law course.
- Candidates are required to submit an essay outlining their plans to pursue a career in criminal justice either as a paralegal or by attending law school.
- International students are welcome to apply; in their essays, they should examine the difficulties encountered in pursuing social justice and compare and contrast the criminal laws of their native country with the United States.
- Applicants must be International students pursuing undergraduate and master's degrees.
Value of the Scholarship:
Successful applicants will receive an award of the value of $3,000.00

Write an essay detailing your career plans for working as a paralegal or going on to law school to continue to work for social justice in criminal law. International students are encouraged to focus their essay on the differences in the criminal law system in their home country and here in the U.S. discussing challenges faced in working for social justice. Students must also self-describe financial need and how this scholarship will help them complete the Paralegal Studies certificate. The essay should be 2 - 3 pages typed in 12 points and double-spaced.
