Begum Saefraz Iqbal Scholarship at University of Western Australia, 2024

The scholarship has been established by Professor Samina Yasmeen at the University of Western Australia to support and encourage a high-achieving student who has expressed interest in working with the Centre for Muslim States and Societies to begin a Bachelor of Arts program with a Social Science major. Begum Sarfraz Iqbal was a devoted promoter of women's educational rights and a contributor to Pakistan's literary, social, and political landscape. She also often contributed columns to newspapers.

Eligibility criteria:

• Applicants must demonstrate interest in contributing to the Centre for Muslim States and Societies.

• Applicants must be enrolled in or qualified to enroll in:

  • full-time enrollment, unless the selection body deems that special circumstances exist that preclude full-time enrollment.
  • a Bachelor of Arts with a major offered by the School of Social Science.
  • be in first, second, or third year.

• Coursework Scholarships and Prizes is accepting applications, which must be turned in by the specified deadline.
• Applicants must include a short statement (maximum 150 words) outlining their interest in contributing to the Centre for Muslim States and Societies.

Benefits:

$5,000 for 3 years.
